Bring on the epiphanies: learn Dance of Shiva
(and have fun doing it)

The best way to get your brain in gear
When nothing is working
Just when all is stuck, it happens -- you get your sweet moment of "bing!" It's happened before, so you know it can happen again (theoretically, at least) but where is it this time?!?!?
Grrr, stupid moments of spontaneous synchronicity and joyful delirium -- how come you can't just plan them to show up when you need them most? Light bulb please! Come on already!
The What of What?
The perfect cure for stuck patterns: this mind-body training system actually builds new neural connections and stimulates epiphanies.
The more you practice, the better you get at recognizing your patterns, breaking them down into their components and building something entirely new to take their place.
Andrey Lappa's Dance of Shiva (also known as Shiva Nata ) -- is a unique and visually stunning, flowing yoga movement form that restructures the brain and facilitates hugely exciting moments of understanding in a safe and systematic way. You make personal breakthroughs in a very short time, usually within 24 hours.
It's like a dancing puzzle that sparks forehead-slapping moments of "Ohmygosh!" over and over again as you open to your own potential.
The Dance of Who?
Shiva, of course, was the Hindu god of Destruction. Doesn't sound like much fun put like that, does it? Well, try skipping over the Hindu god part of it and thinking about it in the symbolic sense. Substitute "deconstruction" for "destruction". Think "winter making room for new growth" and "swords melting to be made into plowshares" and the whole destroyer thing gets a little less intimidating.
That's what this crazy movement form is all about.
How to take out the mental trash (you know, limiting beliefs, stuck memories, unconscious habits and all the noise and stress that clutter up your brain), so you can make more room for mindfulness, clarity and great big moments of "bing".
The original Dance of Shiva eventually gave birth to yoga, martial arts and many forms of Indian dance. This modern version of the lost, ancient practice is incredibly powerful. Using this practice, my students achieve all sorts of things that eluded them beforehand, from coordination breakthroughs to huge emotional understandings.
Why even bother?
Because aside from recharging your brain, this practice can drastically improve all of these useful things:
What's the deal with Andrey Lappa?
If you're super into yoga, you probably already know all about Andrey Lappa. If not, you should. Andrey Lappa is a Ukrainian yoga master and one of the most influential teachers alive. If you're lucky enough to be somewhere where he is lecturing, do yourself a favor and spend some time just being in the same room with him. Because wow. There's a reason he's my mentor.
Aside from his deep background in traditional yoga (and his PhD in engineering),he's also trained in ancient Indian and Vietnamese martial arts and dance. And he brought the ancient Dance of Shiva back to life and turned it into a creative, intelligent modern system for changing the brain. It's ridiculously amazing.
And who are you and why should anyone listen to you?
Well, put it this way: there's only one person in the entire world who knows more about this practice than I do, and that's Ukrainian yoga master Andrey Lappa. And he's off in retreat in a monastery in the Himalayas half the year.
If you're here, you probably already know who I am, but just in case you don't ... I'm Havi Brooks and I've taught Dance of Shiva to more than two thousand people around the world (yes, my co-teacher is a duck).
I've developed teaching programs for the first six levels of the dance, and am one of only two practitioners to have mastered Level 7. I also blog about the practice. And now that my book "Bring on the Epiphanies " is scheduled for publication, I'll finally be able to say I wrote the book on it!
But the main thing is that I have personally experienced the amazing and bizarrely wonderful results of this practice. Breakthrough after brain-changing breakthrough: from finally managing to quit smoking to changing my eating habits to learning German within a few months. I know. Insane.
My students have big, crazy breakthroughs all the time. I want you to have them too.
Sounds great, but would I actually ever use this?
This isn't like a regular old yoga DVD that you buy and stick on the shelf for it to accumulate layers of dust and guilt (sigh). It's intentionally set up in the most user-friendly way possible so you can tailor your practice into short chunks and bite-sized pieces.
You get to choose between short bits and longer sequences and whether you want to go fast or slow. Plus there are steps that can be looped for a focused practice. So you can always sneak in ten minutes when you have the time or enjoy a long, intense session when it suits you.
You're not going to get bored because there are years of material in the nearly 4.5 hours of information on the DVD. I've been using mine for three years and still take it with me everywhere.
Plus the starter kit includes tons of useful information about how to establish a regular, fun, useful home practice that actually works for you. And since my day job is helping people change their habits, you get pretty awesome tips and advice.

My personal practice developed in tiny moments: while the kettle was boiling and the tea was steeping; or 10 minutes with the DVD after work to shake up my mind. These tiny moments accumulate and push you a little further every day. Shiva Nata is now a regular practice. It continues to challenge and puzzle, form and reform. Powerful stuff! If you have the chance to study with Havi or Andrey, do it! If you have tiny moments, practice!.

But I'm not ready yet, I need to get in shape, I'm not twenty-five anymore . . .
There is absolutely no need to be in great shape to do this practice. It's much more of a mind challenge than a body challenge, though you can also use it as a fitness program. Five minutes a day is plenty to grow your brain and give your body some benefit too.
And by the way, some of my students are in their seventies. One recently performed this dance on his eightieth birthday.
Plus if you hate it, I'll buy it back. See the "I'm a yoga teacher goshdarnit I always tell the truth" guarantee.

Whenever I practice Dance of Shiva I wake up the next day with another one of those profoundly clear understandings that seemed like they should have been so obvious -- and somehow never came up in all those years of therapy. . I have these big "Aha!" moments where these huge realizations about myself come out of nowhere, although actually it totally comes from the Dance of Shiva. Really powerful stuff is coming up for me in a very visceral way. It's amazing. My body "got it" this time -- it wasn't just a mind or heart understanding Oh, and I was a little worried because I have chronic pain in my arms and shoulders. But after I practice I have NO upper body pain, which is really unusual.

An old, kinda embarrassing habit of mine disappeared almost magically. Ever since I started practicing with the Dance of Shiva DVD, I started remembering where I parked the car. And I never remember where I park. I used to have to wander for hours before accidentally stumbling upon my car. Now I can park anywhere -- even in an enormous lot -- and not even have to take active mental notes. My mind just knows where it is. It's kind of silly but actually really incredible." Ezra Brooks |
The "I'm a yoga teacher goshdarnit I always tell the truth" guarantee:
No stress. If you don't love it you can return it and get your money back, minus shipping & handling, and I'll make sure it gets to someone who will love it. Try it for 60 days and see what you think. I won't argue with you or guilt-trip you. I'll just buy it back from you.
GET IT HERE: The Dance of Shiva Starter Kit (shipping included)
This is one of those "for right now " things. Just so you know, the complete Starter Kit should be be a lot more expensive. I've actually gotten calls from people who think that it's suspiciously inexpensive. Which is just weird. I'm a yoga professional. I couldn't do suspicious if I tried.
The Starter Kit is currently going for $72 -- which is agreat deal. And cheaper than flying to study with me.
As of right now, the Kit also includes free shipping anywhere in the world. This part could conceivably end up getting on my nerves, so I can't promise that this will always be an option. It is right now.
Any of my students will tell you that everything I do is super high quality and intention, with complete heart and integrity. I know you'll love the Starter Kit, but if it's not working, I'll take it back.

When I practice regularly I get these bursts of energy and can actually feel the spiral movements shifting around the electrons and synapses in my brain and putting everything in order and making connections. I have the strong feeling that I am working hard on dissolving and taking apart inner problems and blocks, without understanding in a concrete sense how it is actually working. It just works.

It's a lot of fun. Plus, the focus is amazing. You can focus completely on the movement and leave everything else aside. Which is great for me because I can be totally ADD and this helped me to get quiet.

If there is anything you want to know about the Starter Kit or about the Dance of Shiva in general, I would be happy to talk with you about it. You can reach me through the Shiva Nata website. I'm always happy to answer questions and I won't pressure you to do anything that you don't want to do. Not my style.
P.P.S. One more thing (I promise, the last one). Do you already own Andrey's DVD? If you already have the DVD and just want the rest of the Starter Kit, here's an upgrade option that saves you money.
